Education

I began pursuing writing as a career path when I attended St. Louis Community College at Forest Park. Though I was just completing my gen eds, I took several creative writing courses that allowed me to explore different styles and tones. I also interned at my school’s newspaper, “The Scene”, where I won three awards from The Missouri College Media Association in Newswriting, News Reporting, and Regular Columns.

After receiving my Associate’s Degree, I transferred to Webster University for my Bachelor’s. I majored in Media Communications and minored in Public Relations. I graduated with a 3.6 GPA and made the Dean’s List in my final semester — all while completing my communications internship at the Higher Education Channel (HEC).

Career

I was one of the lucky people that graduated during the COVID-19 lockdown. So while businesses were closed, I padded my portfolio full of freelance pieces for travel blogs, insurance companies, and even marketing strategies for a wedding photographer.

My big break came in 2021 when I interviewed with CreateApe, a UX/UI design start-up in Irvine, CA. I was quickly welcomed into their team dynamic where I began learning the ins and outs of user experience, graphic design, SEO optimization, and UX research.

These skills, along with my work ethic and continuous desire to learn, helped me quickly ascend the ladder and become their senior copywriter. My creative influence can be felt across all our projects as I oversee almost every piece of written content CreateApe releases.

Outside Of Work

Hobbies

I have been a cosplayer and avid con-goer since 2013. I see this as a real-world exercise in adapting voice and tone, as I make costumes and dress up as characters from different universes such as Star Wars, Marvel, DC, and horror movies.

If we ever get on a video call, you can expect my cat to make a cameo appearance. Jaxx is a 10-year-old orange tabby and he’s the best writing companion I could ever ask for.
